FAQ

The answers to your questions

WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

Osteopathy is a therapeutic approach created in 1874 by Andrew Taylor Still, an American surgeon doctor. The philosophy of osteopathy is dedicated to the promotion of health. Its functioning is based on understanding the dysfunctions of the body's systems. The osteopath researches the causes and makes interrelationships, both at the biomechanical, biochemical, energetic and psycho-emotional level. Using often very gentle manipulation techniques, it allows the body to heal itself by putting it back in balance. An osteopathic diagnosis is different from a traditional medical diagnosis and relies on the assessment of a lack of mobility of structures and tissues which disrupts the integrity of a system. Osteopathic treatment can be preventive or curative and aims to remove obstacles to the full development of health, thus encouraging the healing process already present in the person.

IS IT SUITABLE FOR ALL?

  • for the infant with regurgitation

  • to help the baby in his postural and motor development

  • for children with sleep problems

  • for the teenager having difficulty concentrating

  • for discomfort related to pregnancy and after childbirth

  • for adults with back or joint problems (sciatica pain, herniated disc, osteoarthritis, etc.)

  • for women in hormonal imbalance during the pre-menopausal or menopausal period

  • for the high level athlete in preparation for his performances

  • for performing artists (dancers, musicians, acrobats, singers etc ...) struggling with chronic pain

  • for the aging person who is limited by pain

  • for the person who has had surgery

Osteopathy is for everyone, whether in the prevention or relief of pain and / or pathologies present.

HOW IS A SESSION GOING?

The in-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and the interrelationship between the different structures is one of the peculiarities of the approach of osteopaths. This is why your osteopath could:

  • very gently release a trapped cervical vertebra to eliminate your numbness in your arm ...

  • treating your foot that doesn't hurt you to help you with a chronic headache

  • release tension in the digestive sphere to relieve lower back pain

This is osteopathy!

In general, the treatments provide deep and lasting relief for problems such as:

  • acute pain following trauma

  • chronic symptoms related to posture or the musculoskeletal system such as low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, herniated disc, various postural tensions

  • functional disorders at the digestive, respiratory, gynecological, ENT, migraine and other levels.

The treatment is ideally done in underwear but your comfort is the priority so you can wear tight and flexible clothes.

OSTEOPATHY OR MASSAGE THERAPY?

I decided to add the practice of massage therapy because it is very complementary to osteopathy.
The massage will be targeted on muscle relaxation while in osteo we will go further in the structures.
I generally recommend massage for a moment of relaxation while bringing muscle sagging.
However, my initial training ensures that even during a massage, the osteopathic touch is never far away!
